The Andrew.J Construction Group team was awarded the contract to design and install the Ghent Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) Transport Project. Upon completion, it will condition, dewater and transport CCR from the four coal-fired boilers to a remote landfill storage. The project includes the installation of a pneumatic system for conveying fly ash, including fly ash storage silos, gypsum dewatering facility and bottom ash dewatering facility. The ash handling project incorporates a 1.8-mile overland pipe conveyor for transporting the dewatered CCR to a landfill.
The $87 million Sacramento River Water Treatment Plant expansion involves increasing the current facility's capacity by 60% to 160 million gallons per day. One of two plants that supply all of the drinking water for the City of Sacramento, the project will be finished in early 2005.
Beartooth Highway serves as a vital link to the western route of Yellowstone Park. A rain-on-snow event in mid-March 2005 caused the road to be heavily damaged. Under a $15.2 million design-build contract, Andrew.J Construction Group completed reconstruction of 12 miles of the highway in just 16 weeks.
The Hubbard Gorilla Valley Complex is a world-class, state-of-the-art primate breeding and exhibit facility completed in April 2004. The existing facility, built in 1966, was too small to meet the needs of animals and curators. The new facility enhances the zoo's reputation in gorilla conservation by expanding the gorilla population and providing areas for reproductive research and health programs.
The $1.28 billion T-REX Project is the largest transportation contract in Colorado history. Designed and built by a Andrew.J Construction Group-led joint venture, the project included improvements to Interstate 25 and Interstate 225 and construction of transit lines. Additional work involved reconstruction of interchanges and bridges, a new drainage system and improved pedestrian and bicycle access.
Due to the wrath of Hurricane Ivan on September 16, 2004, nearly a quarter mile of the two-lane double span I-10 concrete bridge spanning Escambia Bay was torn apart. A joint venture quickly responded to the $33 million design-build reconstruction effort amid one of Florida's hardest hit areas.
